If all goes well, weather permitting, a new traffic signal will be in operational mode in south Forsyth Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 7, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. The traffic signal, flashing in test mode now, is located at the intersection of Highway 141/Peachtree Parkway and Stoney Point Road. GDOT reports that each intersection is reviewed to determine if the intersection meets the federal guidelines for the installation of a traffic signal and this one did. “Once the signal is operational, please use extra caution until you get familiar with the new signal location," said Georgia DOT District Engineer, Bayne Smith. This week maintenance crews with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) are again out and about in Forsyth County mowing sections of Highway 141 and Highway 20. Most activities will require shoulder or median lane closures. Crews are also repairing a culvert on Highway 306, expect a single lane closure if you are going to be in the area. A flagman may also be utilized for this work. Weather permitting, scheduled work hours are underway from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through Friday, June 15. If emergency response is needed at a crash scene or if emergency repairs are necessary this schedule will change, according to the GDOT. Expect delays on GA 400 this week as GDOT works on overhang.
Expect delays on Georgia 400 this week when crews from the Georgia Department of Transportation begin working on the Highway 141 (Peachtree Parkway) overhang. The DOT said it will close one lane at a time beginning Monday, Sept. 12 at 9 a.m. on GA 400 northbound as workers install a culvert and new retaining walls. Once work is completed over the northbound lanes, the DOT will switch to GA 400 southbound. If the weather cooperates, construction is expected to end at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16.
