Waterline issues mean longer road closure.
Kelly Mill Road between Bethelview and downtown Cumming will not open to through traffic as planned on Friday, Aug. 5. The project, according to Forsyth County's Assistant Director of Engineering Tim Allen, is going slow. "The waterlines haven’t been progressing as quickly as we hoped,” he said. “We had the closure set up for the summer. It won’t be done this week. It will have to be extended at least another couple weeks,” Allen continued. Despite the road closure signs, drivers are still using the thoroughfare as the quickest route to downtown Cumming. “It’s closed,” said Allen. “Local traffic only. That’s just to let people know that one expect delays because it’s under construction and two you might not be able to get through there.” …

Kelly Mill Road closes to through traffic from Bethelview Road to the Cumming city limits beginning Monday, June 13 through Friday, August 5. The overall project has an expected completion date of November 20. “During this time, local traffic will be able to continue driving through the project limits on temporary road surfaces,” Assistant Director of Engineering Tim Allen said.
