Man Steals Diapers and Beer from Local Kroger

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is looking for a suspected shoplifter.

A BOLO (be on the lookout) has been issued for a man suspected of shoplifting baby diapers, baby formula and beer from a local grocery store.  According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the suspect allegedly shoplifted the items from the Kroger located at 2655 Freedom Parkway. After doing so, he left the store without paying, then loaded the merchandise into a gold four-door vehicle that looked like a Honda or Hyundai made in the 1990's. The suspect is described as a white man in his mid to late 40's, about 5 foot 7 inches, with dark hair. He was wearing glasses, a black leather jacket, blue shirt, blue jeans and athletic shoes. Area Kroger Stores Donate to Relay for Life

Over $184,000 was donated to the American Cancer Society's fundraiser.

Kroger customers and associates in its Atlanta Division – which includes Cumming area stores – contributed more than $184,000 to support the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Relay For Life campaign – an 8 percent increase from last year’s donations. For two weeks in February, Kroger customers and associates at the 213 stores in Georgia, South Carolina, Northern Alabama and Eastern Tennessee purchased $1 “footprint” icons for Relay For Life, a signature fundraising event that takes place in more than 5,100 communities nationwide and abroad. Kroger Recalls Some Mardi Gras King Cakes

Stores in Georgia are part of the recall.

The Kroger - Atlanta Division said today it is recalling some in-store baked Mardi Gras King Cake Cinnamon sold in four states, including Georgia, because it may contain pecans not listed on the label. Customers who purchased the product between Dec. 30 and Feb. 4, should return the product to stores for a full refund or replacement. People who are allergic to pecans could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product. For consumers who are not allergic to pecans, there is no safety issue with the product. Kroger stores in three other states are included in this recall including: Alabama, South Carolina and eastern Tennessee. Keep Others Warm, Donate a Coat at Kroger

Kroger’s Atlanta Division is teaming up with several local businesses and charities to keep families warm during the cold winter months in Georgia. The 2013 Project Overcoat campaign runs through Jan. 19, according to a press release from Kroger. During that time, Kroger customers and associates are encouraged to bring new or gently used coats to any store location throughout metro Atlanta. Salvation Army to Ring Bells at Area Krogers

Red Kettle donations can be made at Kroger locations throughout Cumming and the Atlanta area this holiday season.

Kroger stores in Georgia, South Carolina and Eastern Tennessee are ringing in the holiday season with The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Campaign. Local Kroger Customers Help Raise $736,000 For Breast Cancer Awareness

In two campaigns that spanned Kroger's Atlanta Division, including Forsyth County, more than $450,000 was raised for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and more than $286,000 for Kroger’s “Giving Hope a Hand” campaign.

More than $450,000 was raised for Susan G. Kroger Rounds Up Support for Those Affected by Hurricane Sandy

Customers can round up their purchases to the nearest dollar – the difference benefiting the American Red Cross and its disaster relief efforts in the Northeast.

Kroger stores throughout the Atlanta Division are encouraging customers and associates to donate to the American Red Cross, which is providing shelter, meals, emotional support and other necessities to those affected by the deadly aftermath of Hurricane Sandy after it made landfall on Monday. In support of the thousands of Americans affected by Hurricane Sandy, Kroger launched a “Round-Up” campaign in which customers can round up their purchases to the nearest dollar – the difference benefiting the American Red Cross and its disaster relief efforts in the Northeast. The Kroger Co. family of stores in 15 states, including Georgia, is asking customers to check their refrigerators for certain Kroger Fresh Selections Tender Spinach 10 ounce packages (UPC: 0001111091649) with a "best if used by" date of September 16. This product, supplied by NewStar Fresh Foods LLC, is being recalled because the product may contain Listeria monocytogenes. Kroger Hosting School Supply Drive

Cumming Kroger stores serving as drop-off sites for essential school supplies for homeless children in metro Atlanta during two-week ‘Back 2 School’ campaign.

Cumming Kroger stores are collecting book bags and school supplies for homeless children in metro Atlanta. Kroger’s Atlanta Division, in partnership with the Children’s Restoration Network and WSB-TV, is conducting its 18th annual “Back 2 School” campaign now through July 28. During the two-week drive, 125 Kroger stores will serve as school supply drop-off sites to benefit metro Atlanta children.  The Children Restoration Network’s Back 2 School program will distribute the book bags and school supplies to homeless children. These Salads Should be Tossed, Says FDA

A few bagged salads sold at Kroger and Walmart that had the use-by date of June 19 have been recalled by the manufacturer.

If you follow the use-by date on the food you buy, a recall of bagged salads made by Dole Fresh Vegetables and sold at Kroger and Walmart stores in six states–including Georgia–won't matter much. The products being recalled are: The recall is due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes. Dole Fresh Vegetables is coordinating with regulatory officials.
