Nothing fine-tunes your listening skills quite like parenting. From the moment we become parents the listening starts. It begins with hearing advice from doctors, specialists and teachers who are experts in their fields and many facets of our children’s development. Somewhere in the middle, listening takes on a new dimension as we hear our teens tell us how to drive. Toward the end, what an anomaly, we listen to our adult children and continue to guide them through life’s big disasters and triumphs. Through it all, we sometimes forget to pay attention to that small voice in the back of our minds, you know the one, it’s called instinct.
