Weekend Rain Will Soak Cumming, Forsyth

Forsyth County and the north Georgia area is expected to get about two inches of rain through Monday.

Don't get too comfortable with those sunny skies and mild temperatures, Woodstock.  The weekend is slated to bring clouds and rain to finish out the rest of the week. A "shortwave" will move across Georgia over the weekend and "will bring the return of showers and thunderstorms to north and central Georgia for the weekend into the early work week," according to the National Weather Service's Forecast Office in Peachtree City.  The service predicts the heaviest amount of rain could fall Saturday night and into Sunday morning, with total rainfall amounts reaching between two and two-and-a-half inches through Monday across north Georgia. UPDATE: Forsyth Under a Tornado Watch Until 4 a.m. Friday

While there is only a 30 percent of rain expected for this afternoon, the rain chance climbs to 100 percent through the evening, so expect to get wet if you go outside.

UPDATE:  Forsyth County is under a tornado watch until 4 a.m. Friday, April 12, according to the National Weather Service. A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 9 p.m. Quarter-sized hail and damaging winds up to 60 mph are possible with this storm. Doppler radar is showing signs of rotation within this storm. Cumming and Forsyth County could be hit by severe thunderstorms early this evening, according to the National Weather Service. High Winds, Freezing Temperatures Coming to Forsyth, Cumming

The National Weather Service has issued both a wind advisory for daytime Monday, and a freeze watch overnight Monday for the region.

What happened to spring? Cumming and the rest of Forsyth County is under a wind advisory and a freeze warning. The National Weather Service in Peachtree City issued a wind advisory, which is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday. Don't relax because once the wind dies down we'll be looking ahead to a freeze watch that will be in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday morning. Cumming won't be alone in the windy and freezing weather, as the advisory and watch will be in effect for all of North and Central Georgia. Winds will be from the west at 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. Forsyth County Under Red Flag Warning, Snow Expected

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or will occur within 24 hours, according to the NWS.

Forsyth including 37 counties are under a Red Flag Warning through 8 p.m. issued by the National Weather Service out of Peachtree City. On the Forsyth County website, a ban on outdoor burning has been issued for Thursday, March 21. The affected area for the Red Flag Warning is for much of north and east Georgia. Rain, Cool Temperatures In Store This Week for Cumming

Cumming residents will have to dodge showers and tangle with a brief cold blast mid-week.

Keep your umbrellas close at hand Cumming - at least for now. Rain continues through Monday night with sunshine returning Tuesday. A 100 percent chance of rain through Monday night with the possibility of a thunderstorm, according to the National Weather Service. Low temperatures will dip into the low 40's. Showers and thunderstorms will end by early Tuesday morning, then decreasing clouds and plenty of sunshine with a high reaching 59 degrees. Tuesday night will be mostly clear with the low temperatures in the mid 30's. Both Wednesday and Thursday will be sunny, with highs in the mid to upper 50's and lows in the 30's. Rain, Warmer Temperatures In Store This Week for Cumming

After a chilly weekend, Cumming and Forsyth County will soon see rain and warmer temperatures.

Cumming and Forsyth County residents will soon see rain — and mild temperatures — return this week. After a cold weekend, a chance of rain will linger tonight and into Tuesday night. However, sunny skies will return on Wednesday and a warm-up will move into the city on Friday, and will remain in the area through Sunday. While the precipitation for our area will be rain, there's a slight chance that rain could turn into snow showers across portions of extreme north Georgia Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.  In Cumming, temperatures today will reach the mid 50s and will drop to around 42 tonight. Tonight will also bring with it a 30 percent chance of rain in the area. Chance of Snow, Wintry Mix Through Weekend for Cumming, Forsyth

Portions of north and central Georgia may see flurries, sleet or snow this weekend and freezing temps through Sunday night.

Portions of north and central Georgia could see some snow flurries or a wintry mix as temps drop headed into the weekend. Overnight freezing temps are expected through Sunday night, and Friday night and Saturday hold slight chances of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a freeze warning that includes Cumming and Forsyth County. It's effective through 9 a.m. Friday. Two More Rounds of Heavy Rain for Cumming, Forsyth County

Two to 8 inches of rain have already fallen on parts of north and central Georgia, prompting concerns of flash flooding, extensive street flooding and isolated significant flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

Most of Georgia, including Cumming, is in for a deluge as two rounds of heavy rain likely will start Thursday night and continue through Tuesday, so get your rain boots and umbrellas ready. Two to 4 inches and 4 to 8 inches of rain have already fallen on north and central Georgia, respectively, since the beginning of February, prompting concerns of flash flooding, extensive street flooding and isolated significant flooding, according to the National Weather Service's Hydrologic Outlook, which covers Forsyth and a slew of other counties in north and central Georgia. UPDATE: Damaging Winds, Flooding, Tornadoes Possible

Severe storms and heavy rainfall are possible as a strong storm system and cold front move across north and central Georgia.

Warmer Temperatures and Storms Expected in Cumming this Week

Shower and thunderstorms by Wednesday, some of which could produce gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning.

A cold front is expected to push across north and central Georgia this week, ushering in warmer weather and maybe some severe thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service. "Instability and wind shear values appear sufficient to support the development of scattered to numerous thunderstorms on Wednesday, especially during the afternoon and evening," meteorologists say in a hazardous weather statement, which applies to Cumming and Forsyth County. "Strong upper level support suggest a few storms could be severe" across north and central Georgia.
