A single-vehicle crash over the weekend in north Forsyth County leaves a woman dead.
A 44-year-old woman died early Saturday morning after her vehicle crashed in a wooded area in North Forsyth county, authorities said. Kathryn J. Dodd, 44, of nearby Alpharetta, was dead at the scene after being ejected from her car, according to Cpl. David Garrison of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Dodd, who was driving a 2005 Nissan Maxima, was traveling west on Chattahoochee Road from Shady Grove Road when the vehicle left the roadway on the north side and struck a tree, Garrison said. A passer-by saw Dodd's car leave the roadway around 2 a.m. and go down an embankment off Chattahoochee Road. Several empty canisters used to store dynamite werre found along roadway in north Forsyth County.
An explosive scare that turned out to be a false alarm had one north Forsyth County area shut down for a short time Thursday afternoon while authorities investigated the situation. Capt. Jason Shivers with the Forsyth County Fire Department said several empty canisters used to store dynamite were found along the roadway of Chattahoochee Road and Shady Grove Road (near Highway 369 and Hammond's Crossing). That area was shut down for about 40 minutes until it was deemed safe, according to Capt. Tim House of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. Shivers told Cumming Patch the canisters were properly disposed of and that the area was never in any danger.

A 49-year-old was struck and killed as she was walking across GA 400 Thursday evening.
A 49-year-old north Forsyth County woman was struck by a pickup truck and killed Thursday evening while trying to cross GA 400 near Settingdown Circle, according to authorities. Cpl. David Garrison of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said Juanita Cole of Smith Drive in Cumming stepped into the path of a 2012 Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling southbound around 7 p.m. Garrison said Cole was in an area that is not well it and was wearing dark clothing while walking from the direction of her home. "It appears she may have been going to the Chevron store that is located on the corner of Settingdown Circle and GA 400," said Garrison in a news release.
