Capt. Armond James “A.J.” Renzi, 67, of Cumming, GA passed away on May 7, 2013. Born in Newark, NJ, he was preceded in death by his father, Armond Nicholas Renzi. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Lee Renzi of Cumming, GA; son, Michael James Renzi of Cumming, GA; daughter, Dr. Lisa Marie Renzi of Athens, GA; mother, Marie Renzi; brother, Edward (Kathleen) Renzi of Ellijay, GA; sister-in-law, Linda (Jack) Dunlap of Henderson, NV; mother-in-law, Evelyn Hayes of Henderson, NV; nephew, Edward (Kathryn) Renzi of Kennesaw, GA. Letter to the Editor: Forsyth Special Needs School Bus Drivers Pay Tribute

Cumming Patch,

I am a Special Needs Bus Driver with Forsyth County Schools and today [Thursday, Jan. 24] we honored a special man who lost his battle with cancer on Monday. Lanier Pruitt was the Director of Transportation for Special Needs for the school system. At his funeral today [Thursday, Jan. 24] we paid tribute to him and his family by showing our love as his drivers led the funeral procession with about 30 Special Needs School buses in his honor. His family had no clue we were going to honor him in this way. Lanier was a very Godly man and loved the children in our school system. Just thought you could share a photo or two because I know you probably have Cumming Patch FB friends whose children receive transportation services and know Lanier. As…

In Memoriam: Lanier Pruitt, 58

Lanier Pruitt, 58, of Dawsonville went to be with the Lord on Jan. 21, 2013. Born in Atlanta, GA he was the son of the late Talmadge and Addie Lee Pruitt.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Pruitt; sisters, Rita and Barbara Pruitt; and granddaughter, Brittany Lauren Pruitt. Lanier attended Milton High School and worked in the grocery business -- Forsyth County Board of Education in the Transportation Department where he became the special needs supervisor and was in fleet maintenance for the last 13 years. He was an active member of Coal Mountain Baptist Church. Lanier was an avid golfer and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

James Clifford Dowdy, 83, of Cumming, died on Jan. 20, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Tucker he was the son of the late John and Elsie Dowdy. His beloved wife, Geneva Dowdy and brother, Robert Dowdy predeceased him. James retired from Gaylord Container Corporation. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Dowdy of Cumming, David Dowdy of Cumming and Steve Dowdy of Dawsonville; sisters, Bullah Carter of Buford and Alice Williams of Woosley; nine much-loved grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Obituary for the following resident of Cumming.

Jean Stella Reszutek, 93, of Cumming passed away on June 8. Born in Newark, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Tadeusz and Frances Kanasiuk. Stella married Edward Reszutek in 1943 and lived in Colonia N.J. for 34 years where they raised their family. She loved family gatherings and her lifelong hobby was knitting sweaters for family members. She also loved to dance and laugh. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and Babcie with a generous and kind heart. Before marrying, she worked at RCA in Newark, N.J. Later she worked as a bookkeeper for Allen Industries (Rahway, N.J.), Metuchen Country Club (Edison, N.J.) and for her brother’s tool and die company (Piscataway, N.J.). Funeral services will be held for Cumming resident Joan Carol Berry McConnel of Hartford, Connecticut Tuesday.

Joan Carol Berry McConnel, born on July 7, 1944 - died on May 25, 2012. Joan, age 66, passed away unexpectedly Friday May 25 at Northside-Forsyth Hospital. She will be remembered as a loving sister, mother, grandmother and friend to the many people she touched. Joan was born in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Virginia Reardon Berry and Edwin D. Berry. She grew up there with two brothers, Ned Berry and Phil Berry. She graduated from Hall High School and attended a two-year college in Connecticut. Joan worked for Aetna Life in Casualty in Hartford for many years. Later moving to Townshend, Vermont she worked for Mary Meyer. She was an avid gardener and a wonderful golfer.
