UPDATE: Man Dies in Water Line Construction Accident in Nearby Alpharetta

Forsyth County was first called to the scene, but first responders realized the location was in Alpharetta, so the city got the call.

Update: 2-28-13, 8:52 a.m. A construction worker died in an accident at McGinnis Ferry Road and Windward Concourse early Wednesday afternoon, according to the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety. Manuel Aguirre, 49, of Duluth, was run over by a backhoe at around noon on Feb. 27. He was dead on the scene, said George Gordon, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety. The victim was working for B&H Construction Co., a subcontractor on a Fulton County water project. The company was laying water lines. OSHA Cites Olde Atlanta Recycling

The privately owned recycling company in south Forsyth County has been cited with 23 safety and health violations.

Olde Atlanta Recycling, a privately owned company located in south Forsyth County, has been cited for 23 safety and health violations by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The violations are for exposing workers to a variety of hazards at its facility located at 2535 Ivy Street East in Cumming, according to a news release. OSHA has proposed penalties of $69,200. Some of the alleged violations include, failing to provide an energy control program for workers who maintain and service equipment to keep machines from accidentally starting up, require workers who operate powered industrial trucks to wear seat belts, failing to develop and implement a noise monitoring program, implement a noise…

OSHA Cites Contractor Following Trench Collapse and Fatality

2-Brothers Enterprises Inc., has been cited by OSHA following a February trench cave-in at a Cumming work site that led to the death of an employee.

A Jackson-based contractor has been cited by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) following a February trench collapse at a Cumming work site that led to the death of an employee. Aaron Banks, 20, of Covington was working in a trench at Waterstone Falls subdivision, a Ryland Homes development, off Trammel Road in Cumming, when it collapsed trapping him. He was eventually freed by emergency crews from Forsyth County Fire Department and Gwinnett County Technical Rescue, but later died from his injuries. According to a recent news release by OSHA, 2-Brothers Enterprises Inc. has been cited for two willful and one serious violation of the incident. The penalties total $116,200 and 2-Brothers …
