Price of Stamps Going Up at End of Month

The debut of the U.S. Postal Service's 46-cent Forever stamps brings rate changes on Jan. 27.

It's soon going to cost you an extra penny to mail a letter. The U.S. Post Office announced recently that the effective Jan. 27, stamp prices will increase one cent to make way for the new 46-cent Forever stamp. The price to mail a one-ounce letter will increase from 45 cents to 46 cents, but the cost for letters weighing more than one ounce will stay the same, at 20 cents for each additional ounce. The announcement states letters under one ounce mailed anywhere internationally will cost $1.10 and postcard stamps will also see a one-cent increase, from 32 cents to 33 cents. Morning Sunshine, Your Cup of 'Joe' is on the Rise at Starbucks

Local Starbucks will soon raise prices about one percent.

The Associated Press reports that Starbucks has said it will raise prices in several regions throughout the country, including our neck of the woods. The Seattle-based coffee chain is blaming the increase on rising ingredient costs and expects to raise prices about one percent. A "tall" coffee is set to go up in cost by 10 cents, along with six other beverages. The chain's "grande" size is said to not be affected by the price increase. There are several Starbucks locations in Cumming that you may frequent, including 906 Buford Highway and 2325 Bethelview Road. What do you think of the cost increase? Redbox Ups Their DVD Rental Price

Have you noticed the price increase for a DVD rental at your local Cumming Redbox kiosk?

Just like almost everything else these days, the DVD rental price at the local Redbox kiosk has gone up. The daily rental charge for DVDs is now $1.20, goodbye dollar movies. "The price change is due to rising operating expenses, including new increases in debit card fees," the company news release stated. "This marks our first price change in more than eight years as we work hard to keep prices low for our customers." But Redbox is trying to ease the pain of the price increase by discounting the first day of all online DVD rentals to $1.00 from now until Nov. 30, though additional rental days will be $1.20.
