Black Friday shopping isn't for the faint of heart. But if you're already ad prioritizing and store strategizing, the fact that several area big-box retailers are gearing up to open their doors even earlier this year - starting Thanksgiving Day - won't surprise you. Last week, Walmart announced that it would open its doors at 8 p.m. on that Thursday, Nov. 22 and offer holiday doorbusters, while supplies last. ‘Shop For A Cause’ at Macy’s on Saturday

The one-day shopping event will benefit the March of Dimes.

Have some overdue back-to-school shopping to do? Need something for the house or to add to your wardrobe? Stop by Macy’s this Saturday, Aug. 25, and you can enjoy special savings while lending a hand to the March of Dimes. The national nonprofit that seeks to end birth defects is the recipient of this year’s “Shop For A Cause” event at Macy’s. During the one-day promotion, consumers can purchase a “Shop For A Cause” savings pass that will give them 25 percent off regular, sales and clearance items. Savings of 10 percent are also available on such items as watches, furniture, mattresses and area rugs. Girlfriends Wanted

Mountain Lake Church in Cumming is calling all girlfriends for a fun night of shopping and fellowship Thursday.

Do you love to shop? If so, make a note to attend the second annual Girlfriends Mixer at Mountain Lake Church (MLC) Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event will be led by Tricia Lovejoy, leader of the women's ministry at the church, and wife of lead Pastor Sean Lovejoy. "We're hosting this night as a venue for ladies to connect in friendship – because God created us to be relational," said Lovejoy. "What better way to start friendships than while shopping."
