New McDonald's Offers 'Latest and Greatest'

Saying 'cheese' at McDonald's has a whole new meaning as modern technology helps expedite service.

With an entirely new building and a side-by-side drive-through, McDonald's at 660 Atlanta Road has been running smoothly since it opened for business last month. The official grand opening was held over the weekend with an appearance by Ronald McDonald and events throughout the day.  The two and a half month project to re-build the restaurant began this past June  with the completion of razing of the old store.  “Within 24 hours it was gone. I had people asking ‘what just happened'", said Keith Muller, owner.  The temporary closing of the business meant a lack of revenue as well as serious implications for employees. To help the staff, Muller offered floating positions at other stores to the original staff in order to maintain incomes …

*sigh I have emailed them. I love it. I am glad they are open. I love that teenagers are back to work. What I don't love is the fries. They keep mixing the old fries with new fries so you get like this mixed stale-to yummy. That is not appetizing. Especially on my "get to eat anything I want" day. grumble. I am super happy that they are still 24 hours though. At least there is that.   more ›

The Academy Opens at The Avenue Forsyth

The much anticipated sporting goods store opens its doors to some special guests as well as the public.

A special afternoon delivery arrived at the new Academy Sports and Outdoors store Thursday. A big yellow school bus pulled up to the store and some very excited children piled out.  The children, in the after school program at the YMCA were each treated to a $100-dollar gift card and free reign of the new sporting goods store just before its opening to the general public. Located at the Avenue Forsyth on Peachtree Parkway, the Academy caters to sporting enthusiasts of all ages with a premier selection of everything from kayaking and golf equipment to lacrosse and football gear. Vesta Looking to Hire 50 Order Processing Agents

The first employees for the electronic payments processing company's local call center started working in January.

Vesta, an electronic payment processing company that first announced it was opening a call center in nearby Alpharetta in December 2010 is looking to hire 50 order processing agents. The Vesta Web site says a call center career path could take an employee from an order processing agent to a lead/supervisor position and ultimately into management. "We also offer exciting opportunities for bilingual individuals who are fluent in Spanish and English," the Vesta Web site says. These call center employees take inbound calls only. The center is open 24 hours a day, and a shift differential is offered. Full-time and part-time jobs are available. Employees must be able to work weekdays and weekends. Cumming's Cracker Barrel Soon to be Reality

Peg Games, front porch rocking chairs and moon pies will soon be available in Cumming with the expected opening this spring of Cracker Barrel.

Due to open Spring 2012, the Cumming Cracker Barrel will be located at 302 Tri-County Plaza, formerly the site of Mrs. Winners and PR’s BBQ. The store will be located on approximately two acres of land at the intersection of Georgia 400 and Highway 20. PR’s BBQ and Mrs. Winner's Chicken & Biscuits, formerly at the same location, have been razed and construction began Sept. 19 of this year for the 8,960-square foot Cracker Barrel. Ironically the original store opened Sept. 19, 1969 near Lebanon, Tennessee. under the ownership of Dan Evins and his friend Tommy Lowe, a contractor.  Construction for the Cumming operation had been originally planned to begin in Oct., but because the site is already zoned correctly, approval from the county …
