Speed Likely Factor in Head-On Collision in South Forsyth

At least three people were transported to a nearby hospital.

A head-on collision Sunday afternoon on Shiloh Road in south Forsyth County sent three people to the hospital, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. One of the victims, William Frank Cash, III, 29, of Shiloh Creek Court in Cumming, remains in serious but stable condition at North Fulton Hospital. Elizabeth Dickman, 49, of Ivey Springs Chase in Cumming, and one of her passengers, a 17-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to the same hospital where they were treated and released. Two other passengers, another 17, and 14-year-old, were seated in the backseat and were not injured. Rugby Returns to the Polo Fields in South Forsyth

The Polo Fields in south Forsyth County is the hot spot for next month's rugby tournament.

Rugby will be the name of the game on the Polo Fields in south Forsyth County next month when the Hotlanta Sevens tournament returns for a third year. The Atlanta Old White Rugby Football Club and The Atlanta Harlequins–a women's team–will be the hosts. The tournament will be Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it's open to the public. "Last year's attendance was around 400 people and 38 teams," said Trey Dickson, a player and representative of the Old White Club. He also owns a South Forsyth business, and his wife, Tasha, plays for The Atlanta Harlequins. UPDATE: Opening of Brookwood Farmers' Market Delayed

The south Forsyth county farmer's market is expected to open on Friday, June 22.

The much-anticipated opening of the third season of Brookwood Farmers' Market has been delayed by one week. "Unfortunately, due to matters beyond our control we have to change the opening date for the Brookwood Farmers' Market," said Dina Majoli, head of communications for the farmer's market in an e-mail. "We just learned the new park, Caney Creek Preserve, will not be open until June 22." UPDATE: As of today, June 14, the Web site states, "We are excited to announce the Grand Opening of the Brookwood Farmers’ Market will coincide with the opening of the new Forsyth County Park, Caney Creek Preserve. Brookwood Farmers' Market Kickoff in June

Brookwood Farmers' Market in south Forsyth County will be ready to go for another summer season on Friday, June 15.

Brookwood Farmers' Market is excited to announce the kickoff of its third season.  This year the market will move from the parking lot at Brookwood Elementary School around the corner to the new Caney Creek Preserve Park located on Caney Road in south Forsyth County. Sheriff's Office Nabs Cat Burglar

A 22-year-old man is in jail after being charged with burglarizing homes and cars in two south Forsyth County subdivisions.

A Glencree subdivision wife who was woken up by the noise of a door opening is likely glad to hear Forsyth County Sheriff's Office investigators have arrested a man they believe broke into the family home very early Tuesday morning, Feb. 6. The man who the sheriff's office says has gang-related ties has been charged with burglarizing not just the Wicklow Court home, but also a car and another family home in Aberdeen subdivision the day before. Both families probably are making sure all of their doors and windows are locked, as authorities believe the suspect entered the homes and cars through unlocked doors. Julian Estevan Mora-Ruiz, 22, of Cameron Bridge Way in Alpharetta, was arrested on Feb. 7 by Forsyth investigators within 12 hours …

Gov. Deal Signs New Georgia Congressional Map

Congressional District 7 covers a portion of South Forsyth County and most of Gwinnett County.

Gov. Nathan Deal recently signed into law Georgia’s new congressional map passed by the General Assembly. The Georgia Congressional Reapportionment Act of 2011 adds a 14th district, which Georgia gained after the 2010 Census. Congressional District 7 covers a portion of South Forsyth County and most of Gwinnett County. The 7th District congressional seat is currently held by Republican U.S. Rep. Rob Woodall.
