You’ll want to think about going to bed early or sleeping in this weekend: Daylight Saving Time starts at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 10. That means you’ll “spring ahead” and move your clocks forward one hour—and, unfortunately, lose that hour of sleep. At 8,164, the pollen count on the last day of winter was more than 2,000 particles of pollen per cubic meter higher than the previous record of 6,013 set on April 12, 1999. According to the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic, however, Spring 2012 has left that record in the yellow dust - coming in at 9,368 for March 20 – the official first day of spring. Needless to say, there is a High Pollen Alert for the local area.
