The remains of a man were found on the trail system south of Kimball Bridge Road.
Detectives in nearby Alpharetta are investigating the discovery of the decomposed remains of a man on the Big Creek Greenway trail system. George Gordon, spokesman for the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety, said the remains were found at a location south of Kimball Bridge Road in North Fulton County. Sheriff's Office completes investigation of human remains that were discovered by a landscaper on Friday, Dec. 30.
The investigation stemming from the discovery of human remains found in a wooded area in the vicinity of Bluegrass Valley Parkway and McFarland Road on Friday, Dec. 30, has ended, according to authorities. Capt. Tim House of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said the Criminal Investigation Division concluded its investigation on site on Saturday, Dec. 31. Investigators do know the remains are from a man of Hispanic origin. House said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will determine the age of the remains. The state forensic anthropologist, who was on site during the investigation, believed that the remains had been in the area for about 5 to 8 years. A landscaper surveying property off McFarland Road found a human skull Friday afternoon, Dec. 30.
UPDATE: Dec. 31, 12:30 p.m. A landscaper and architect from DeKalb County who was surveying an area of land in the vicinity of Bluegrass Valley Parkway and McFarland Road discovered a human skull around 3:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, according to Capt. Tim House with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. "He actually was surveying the area for moss and saw something and he thought it was a bone," said House. "When he kind of nudged it with his foot he realized it was a human skull and went back down the woods and called us." Authorities have found other bones since their investigation began Friday. A landscaper and architect from Dekalb County who was out surveying an area of land for moss in the vicinity of Bluegrass Valley Parkway and McFarland Road discovered a human skull around 3:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, according to Capt. Tim House with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. The man whose name has not been released apparently had permission from the property owners to pick up moss to be used for an architectural design project.
