More than 100 Live Chickens Fall off Truck

A cage full of live chickens fall off truck shutting down a section of Matt Highway late Monday morning.

About 150 live chickens crammed into a cage fell off a truck late Monday morning causing authorities to shutdown Matt Highway (SR 369) between Wallace Tatum Road and Whitmire Road in north Forsyth County for awhile.

According to Capt. Jason Shivers of the Forsyth County Fire Department, the cage that fell was one of many full of live chickens stacked on the truck. Shivers did not know what caused the cage to fall, but many of the chickens in that cage were killed on impact.

"And that's what shut the road down for some time was the fact that the cage fell off the truck and there were chickens in various stages on the highway," said Shivers.
