Weather Related Road Closures in Forsyth

A flood warning remains in effect for Big Creek in Cumming.

As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, the following roads are either closed or partially closed, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office:

  • 5400 Cantrell Road at Jot-Em Down Road - expected to be two weeks before repairs are completed
  • English Drive - one lane closed - expected to be two weeks before repairs are completed
  • Settingdown Road, south of The Hampton subdivision – the FCSO hopes to have it opened by 10 tonight
  • Dunroven Way at Blue Ridge Overlook - – the FCSO hopes to have it opened by 10 tonight

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for parts of North Georgia, including Forsyth, Cherokee, Dawson, Lumpkin, Hall and 16 other counties until Thursday morning at 8.

"Multiple waves of heavy rain will move through north and portions of central Georgia through this evening. Heavy rain this morning has dumped anywhere from 3 to 8 inches of rain across portions of north Georgia with isolated higher amounts of 10 inches," reads the statement.

"Across portions of central Georgia 2 to 4 inches of rain has already fallen. Additional widespread amounts of 1 to 2 inches can be expected with locally higher amounts."
