Verizon Wireless Adds 2 Cell Sites in Forsyth

The sites enhances 4G LTE coverage throughout Forsyth County.

Forsyth County residents who are Verizon Wireless customers should soon see an improvement in their cell service.

The company has installed two new cell sites in the northern and western parts of the county near Lake Lanier, according to a press release from the company.  

The new sites enhances coverage along Browns Bridge Road and Buford Damn Road east of Cumming, south of Chestatee Road and the northern and western ends of Lake Lanier in Forsyth County.

Verizon last month announced that its 4G LTE network is now "substantially" rolled out in Georgia. It first launched the 4G network in the Atlanta and Athens areas in December 2010. 

Since then, Verizon has pumped more than $550 million into shoring up its network throughout the state, a "substantial" portion of which was used to expand its 4G coverage in the state. Since 2000, the company's total investment in Georgia has exceeded $2.1 billion.

Verizon's 4G LTE network is available in 500 markets, covering 298 million people.
